The physical shop space is coming together. The drywall is done and I was able to paint. I’ve made a PFD rack from 2×4 cut offs and some old Yakima bars. Now I just need to put the finishing touches on trim, design & build paddle racks and then move everything out into the garage…err…shop.

The shop space just before the drywall and paint, the wall racks were built with salvaged 2×6’s and 2×4’s.

Ivan Lawler, a world champion paddler and just all around nice guy, is the new brand manager for Tiderace Sea Kayaks. Ivan came to visit this week and we went out to Devils Lake State Park to paddle. It was an amazing day with Terns migrating through, eating the massive amounts of lake flies that had hatched. The trout were jumping, there were Turkey Vultures circling above and Loons hunting the trout.

Ivan paddling the Tiderace Pace Tour, a fast expedition kayak.

Ivan is one of the most humble people I have ever met and he graciously answered every question I fired at him to pick his brain on a myriad of paddling topics. Thank you Ivan for helping with my forward stroke.

Stop by, the shop is coming together. We’d love to show you our boats, paddles and accessories…or just go paddling.

  1. Ivan lawler wow you should have run a clinic! Best of luck opening looks exciting. Oh and what does a pace 17 basic construction cost?

    1. Jim,

Yeah, pretty cool to meet such an accomplished paddler, and nice guy. Ivan had just come from four days of running clinics and instructing in Houston, TX, so he was enjoying our quiet place her on Sandow Lake.

I’ll drop you a line by e-mail about the Pace.
