We’re still here and dreaming of extended trips in the backcountry. How about you?

I’ve been working on planning the Magolan family paddle trip for this summer. Our girls are excited to get out paddle camping. We WILL be taking a 2-week wilderness trip. It’s only a matter of where. Where we can get as far away as reasonably possible that’ll be open.
We’re thinking about Voyageurs National Park, Isle Royale, BWCAW, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore or the Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area in Canada! We’ll see where we can go when the time comes.
We’ve been getting out paddling almost every day on our little lake here, which is more like family time than truly scratching the paddling itch. But we can’t complain, we’re fortunate to be healthy, in every way, in these times. It’s nice to be out with the turtles, the loons that pass through every spring, the Wood Ducks and the Belted Kingfishers. Nature cares not for the tragedy of mankind.
I know these Stay at Home orders are tough, but let’s do it right the first time, let’s follow science, not political hackery, so there is no repeat to this hardship or worse!
I hope you’re well too; let us know if you want to talk paddling or paddle gear.
All the best to all of you,
Umingmaq
