It’s been a crazy few weeks here at Umingmaq Paddle Touring Center. Extreme cold is lingering late into March, and we’re trying to get the shop ready for spring.
In mid-February, Matt drove 3411 miles in 5 days and covered 11 states, if you include Wisconsin, to pick up our first boats. We first traveled to Lebanon, Missouri to pick up a 10 place trailer from Osagian Canoe and Bear Trailer. Then from Missouri to Erwin, Tennessee to pick up some Venture Kayaks at Pyranha’s new warehouse on the Nolichucky River.
I dropped the trailer at Pyranha and then drove down to the Lake County Rowing Association in Clermont, Florida to meet up with Ian Mack from Sprint Training and Resource Center to pick up new Tiderace Xceed 17’9″ and Tiderace Pace Tour 17’1″ sea kayaks. The boats are beautifully made and I’m still kicking myself for not building in enough time on the trip to do some paddling.
After loading the Tiderace boats on the roof rack, we headed back to Pyranha to pick up the trailer, shuffle the load and start for home. We have some Venture canoes and kayaks; Islays, Juras, Rangers and a Hunter.
So, we’ve got some boats. Our big 9 boat Tiderace order comes in on April 1st, and that’s no foolin’.
Umingmaq Paddle Touring Center will be one of the largest stocking dealers of Tiderace Sea Kayaks in the US. Give us a call and we’ll help you choose the right boat for you.
