A lightweight 2-part laminated wood Greenland paddle
Description
The Gram Kajak 8900D paddle is the lightest wooden paddle Gram Kajak makes. Constructed of Red and Yellow Cedar with edges reinforced with Siberian Larch. The construction is approximately 800 grams (28 oz.), give or take about 50 grams (1.7 oz). Although lightweight for a paddle constructed with laminated wood, it is still durable enough to be your primary paddle. In keeping with the ethos of Umingmaq Paddle Touring Center, this paddle is optimized for touring as a two part paddle.
The joint is made of carbon. Note also that the joint is oval and flush 100% with the wooden part of the handle. The joint is made with an inner hexagonal ferrule, which is locked with a spring loaded knob. Simple and durable. Because of the hexagon, there is no play or twist in the joint over time. The shaft is 32mm x 36mm / 1.25″ x 1.4” oval.
