Well, it’s almost that storied weekend in March (13-15, 2020) when rabid paddlers from the far reaches descend on Madison, Wisconsin for Canoecopia. The self-proclaimed “Largest Paddlesports Expo in the World.” The event in Europe called Paddle Expo might beg to differ on that moniker, but Canoecopia is definitely one of the best events in the winter paddling schedule. And Umingmaq will be there!
We will be at Canoecopia looking for adventurers to join us on our guided trip to Iceland from July 23 – August 2, 2020. Pricing will be dependent on how many travelers sign up, but range from $3850 – $5350 per person, darn near All-Inclusive. This will be a fantastic trip, which will include three separate days of day paddles & hotel accommodations, plus days of immersion in Icelandic culture & a ferry ride to an island on the Arctic Circle. Please contact us if interested. More information is available online at: https://umingmaqpaddleshop.com/iceland-adventure-2020/
We will be selling Gram Kajak Greenland paddles and accessories at Canoecopia. A cool new accessory will be the Gram Kajak Greenland Paddle Float. Designed with dual independent chambers, this float was designed specifically for Greenland paddles and will have over 40 pounds of buoyancy when fully inflated. Other features include reflective taping and a strap that will hold the float in place, no matter the conditions.
We have a full selection of Gram Kajak Greenland paddles that have been restocked and are excited to find a home at Canoecopia. So, if you’re in the market for a new Greenland paddle that can break down into two parts in either wood or carbon fiber, stop on over to our booth. We have a limited run of Special Edition wooden paddles for Canoecopia, so come check them out, I suspect they’ll be popular.
Matt will be giving a presentation on Friday, March 13 at 4:30 PM in the Bear room & Saturday, March 14 at 4:30 PM in the Algonquin room entitled, “Wisconsin Backyard Paddling Gems.” The talk will cover some great places to paddle-camp in Wisconsin for both canoeists and kayakers.
We will not be allowed to sell Tiderace Sea Kayaks, Valley Sea Kayaks, Lendal NA paddles, Epic Touring Paddles, Peak UK accessories, nor any of the other great brands or products we have at our shop for Canoecopia, because Rutabaga doesn’t like the competition. But we sure can talk to you about them. We can also set up a time for you to come to the shop to demo, as soon as the ice goes out! So stop by our booth at Canoecopia, March 13-15, 2020 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison.
There are too many exciting things happening here at Umingmaq Paddle Touring Center to fit in one blog post, so stay tuned, there’s plenty more to come!
